Established on 1st January 2021, Munster Technological University is Ireland’s first regional Technological University. With 18,000+ students across six campuses in the South-West region, the University’s academic programme spans all levels from apprenticeship to PhD. The University’s mission is to lead change and, through education and research, empower people for a successful future in a globalized world.
The Governing Body is the authority established under the Technological Universities Act 2018 to govern the University. Working with the Chair, Members of Governing Body take collective responsibility for the long-term sustainability of the University and perform a key role in ensuring best practice in its corporate governance.
The University is now in the process of expanding membership of its first Governing Body. It is seeking to appoint up to eight external, suitably qualified individuals as members. The members will reflect a diversity of backgrounds and experience while sharing a commitment to the mission and goals of the new University. Members will be required to commit sufficient time to undertake this non-executive role.
Expressions of Interest for these positions are now invited. Appointment is subject to procedures set down in the Technological Universities Act 2018, (Number 3 of 2018). Positions are non-remunerated, with appropriate expenses reimbursed in accordance with University policy. The term of office for these appointments is two years. Subsequent terms of office may be up to 4 years, and external members may not serve more than 2 consecutive terms of office (regardless of duration). Candidates must be external to the University and must declare any potential conflicts of interest.
